"The Police" were an British trio consisting of Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland. The band realized international popularity in the late 1970's, playing a style of rock that was influenced by jazz, punk and reggae music.

Their 1983 release , Synchronicity, was number one in the U.K. and the U.S. and sold over eight million copies in the U.S. alone. The band members went their separate ways during 1984, but later reunited in 2007 for a one time world tour than ended in August of 2008.

"The Police" have sold more than 50 million albums around the world, and were the world's most profitable group during 2008, thanks to their successful reunion tour. Rolling Stone magazine ranked The Police number 70 on their list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time."
